Analysis of the legal framework for mining in Bosnia and Herzegovina

In the context of accelerated global changes driven by the energy transition, digitalization, and the pursuit of strategic autonomy, the demand for critical raw materials has been continuously increasing. Minerals such as lithium, cobalt, copper, nickel, and rare elements have been promoted as key resources of modern development, and their availability is increasingly shaping geopolitical and economic relations. In this context, Bosnia and Herzegovina is recognized as an area with significant potential due to its reserves of various mineral resources. This fact positions the country, together with the states of the region, as an increasingly attractive market for geological exploration and exploitation, which is further emphasized through the strategic documents of the European Union.
